Jamie Dornan makes a questionable crisp sandwich on Jimmy Kimmel

Crisp Gate is here and we’re not sure we claim this energy to be honest…

Jamie Dornan is the man of the hour; his most recent film Belfast has been nominated for countless awards, including several Oscars. We’re a big fan of Jamie in Ireland – last month he was even crowned as the celebrity the Irish people most wanted to shift. So trust me when I say it takes a lot to turn the Irish people against him (we’ve even nearly forgotten the whole Wild Mountain Thyme mess).

But crisp sambos are a delicacy. They’re something we take very seriously in Ireland. They’re also incredibly hard to get wrong. We’re not talking about a gourmet dish here. In my experience, a crisp sandwich is made with Tayto Cheese and Onion, some fluffy white Brennan’s bread, and some butter. Simple. I’ll maybe allow the odd personal touch to this recipe.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel provides Jamie with the means to make his version of a crisp sandwich – skip in to 9:50 to witness it.

I mean he got the bread and the crisp choice right at least. But in Jamie’s version (I think it’s important we make that distinction) of a crisp sandwich, he uses mayonnaise (look, I like a bit of mayo here and there, but there’s a time and a place) as well as ham. Ham?! In a crisp sandwich. Jamie Dornan is lucky he’s talented is all I’ll say.

What I think we can all agree on however is how he describes the feeling of finishing a crisp sandwich:

This is the maybe the most exciting thing that will happen in your day, year, life, is the crunch.

On that, we’ll have to agree with you Jamie.
