The Duke and Duchess meet Brod

Brod the Bernese Mountain Dog has melted hearts across Ireland and the UK.

William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are in Ireland at the moment, having touched down at Dublin Airport yesterday afternoon.

Keen to please locals during their stay, the duo started things off on the right foot – arriving kitted out in patriotic green. Kate impressed with her emerald outfit while William donned a green tie, especially for the occasion.

Only here for three days, the couple are on quite a tight schedule of events, with plans to visit Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Galway.

Yesterday saw William and Kate head to Aras an Uachtarain to meet with President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina, but, unsurprisingly, it was Brod the Bernese Mountain Dog that really stole the show.

Already quite popular amongst the Irish diaspora, it looks like Brod now has a growing fanbase in the UK too after Kensington Palace tweeted a video of the royal introduction.

Onlookers were full of praise for the friendly pup, complimenting him on his superb welcoming skills.

People were quick to notice that Michael D’s other dog Sioda was missing, but thankfully his absence wasn’t due to anything serious as the Aras confirmed that he’s busy recovering from an operation and will be back up and running about in no time.
