A Meath village is the latest stop on Matt Damon’s filming tour

Matt Damon has moved his filming duties to Bective in Co. Meath after taking in Cahir in Co. Tipperary last week.

The Last Duel filming crew has arrived in Bective as work continues on the upcoming Ridley Scott epic. Matt Damon is joined by a host of stars including his old pal Ben Affleck and Jodie Comer of Killing Eve fame. It isn’t the first time that Bective has had a brush with Hollywood, with Bective Abbey used in 1995 blockbuster Braveheart, starring Mel Gibson.

Michele Whelan, Tourism Officer with Meath County Council, told RTE that “it’s great to have all these Hollywood stars close to Trim and Co Meath and it’ll be great for us in terms of just the economic impact into the future.”

Filming has also taken place in Tipperary and Wicklow and the crew are being housed in ‘bio bubbles’ in the exclusive K Club in Co. Kildare.

Matt Damon has certainly been busy since restrictions have eased, allowing him to move away from the Dalkey hideaway he occupied for much of the spring. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out when The Last Duel is released in October 2021.
