10 Up-And-Coming Irish Musicians You NEED To Check Out

Sure we only love adding some new tunes to our Spotify playlists, especially when they’re Irish artists. 

The Irish music scene right now is absolutely killing it and is producing some of the best talent we have heard in years. Festival season may be over but there will be plenty of gigs coming up to keep those feet dancing. 

Here are some of the best up and coming Irish bands and artists that you should definitely have a listen to.

10. Soulé

We friggin’ LOVE Soulé. Her recent collaboration with Mark McCabe on her song Good Life is one we love to blare in the car and wiggle in the seat to – Beyond feel good vibes. 

The Dublin singer/songwriter has already been marking her territory in the Irish music scene as her début single “Love No More” was nominated for “Irish Song of The Year” at the 2017 Choice Music Prize Awards.

Upcoming Gig: 27 October – Cyprus Avenue

9. Laoise

At just 20 years old, this Galway girl is breaking the music scene in Ireland and abroad. 

She is an absolute treat for any indie and electronic pop lovers!

Her track “You” reached to no.4 in the UK charts and no.17 in the Norwegian charts. She has also been named by GoldenPlec as one of the ‘PlecPicks’ of 2017.

Upcoming Gig: 30 September – Rathfarnham Castle

8. Le Boom

This up and coming Irish electro-pop band have a lot to offer. With hints of Metronomy and Caribou in their music, this duo are right up our street. We know these guys will be going far after hearing them play at Electric Picnic this year where they absolutely killed it.

Good vibes all round from these guys, we are obsessed!

7. Tim Chadwick

Born and bred in Dublin, young singer songwriter Tim Chadwick is definitely one to keep an eye on. His recent debut single Blindfolded is an absolute tune.

If you want to check Tim out for yourself, he is set to play The Sugar Club this week.

6. Orchid Collective

Orchid Collective are a four piece alternative indie folk-rock band who you definitely need to add to your Spotify playlists. These guys have some serious talent and are sure to be making it big in the next while. 

Their dreamy harmonies mixed with reverbed guitars are sure to give you chills.

5. Rejji Snow

Dublin hip-hop artist and record producer Rejji Snow has been around for quite a few years. This Dublin artist actually emerged from YouTube six years ago and has been supplying slick beats ever since.

This year however, will be a big one for Mr. Snow as he is set to release his long-awaited debut album Dear Annie and a mixtape titled The Moon & You. 

His single Virgo released this year has gotten us excited for what’s to come.

4. Bonzai

Hailing from Wicklow, Bonzai is one funky chicken. At the age of 17, she flew over to London to start a musical degree and found herself as a back-up singer for NAO. It was during this time that she met with Mura Masa, who was astounded by her talent. 

Her newest track Nuggets ft. Mura Masa is one of our favourite tunes to bop to right now.

3. The Ocelots 

Take identical twins Brandon and Ashley from Wexford, give them a guitar and a harmonica and you’ve got the sweet sound that is The Ocelots. These folk and blues artists are providing us with some of the best music we have heard come out of Ireland in years.

These guys are known for their emotional vocals and tight, melodic harmonies, we are completely obsessed.

2. Aine Cahill 

Aine Cahill is slaying the music scene in Ireland right now and we love it. This girl has some serious lungs on her and an incredibly unique sound as a result. 

The 22-year-old from Co. Cavan is a lover of Jazz, which can often be heard in her music. Her single Plastic, that came out early this year has clocked in over 20k views on YouTube and over 300k streams on Spotify. 

We will be listening to this one on repeat.

1. Rusango Family

This musical trio originating from Limerick are creating a new kind of music based on a mixture of global cultures and traditions. These guys are super energetic performers and have gathered quite a reputation for themselves in the Irish music scene. 

They went on to win Choice Music Prize for Irish album of the year this year and it was well deserved, don’t you think?
