Admittedly aimed at helping young children learn how to cook, that won’t stop us from tuning in.

Netflix is to get a new cooking show soon, this one headed up by none other than Michelle Obama. Called Waffles + Mochi, the programme is aimed at helping young children learn how to cook – all while teaching families in need how to build their meals around fresh, healthy ingredients.

Based on the adventures of two puppets, Michelle stars as a supermarket owner helping the duo on their journey to becoming experienced chefs. Giving a brief outline of what viewers can expect from the 10-episode long show, a statement from Netflix reads:

“With the help of friendly new faces like the supermarket owner, Mrs. Obama, and a magical flying shopping cart as their guide, Waffles and Mochi blast off on global ingredient missions, travelling to kitchens, restaurants, farms and homes all over the world, cooking up recipes with everyday ingredients alongside renowned chefs, home cooks, kids and celebrities.”

Sharing the exciting news with followers over on social media, the former first lady took to Instagram to introduce her new pals.

“This is something I’ve been working on for a while now, and I’m so excited to finally be able to tell you all about it. Allow me to introduce two new friends of mine: Their names are Waffles and Mochi. And on March 16, we’ll be launching a new children’s show on @Netflix called Waffles + Mochi.”

Not due to launch until later this year in mid-March, Michelle said that it will be “all about good food: discovering it, cooking it, and of course, eating it”. Sounds right up our alley.
