Ryan Tubridy reckons this year’s Toy Show opening number is “unguessable”

Ryan Tubridy has been teasing fans of the Late Late Toy Show by saying that this year’s opening number will be “unguessable”.

It’s hard to believe that it’s just over 15 weeks until Christmas and that means that in around 11 weeks’ time, Ryan Tubridy will be serenading the nation with the opening performance of the Late Late Toy Show.

Let’s be honest, the annual performance is now basically up there with the Super Bowl half-time show in terms of anticipation but Ryan isn’t giving anything away just yet. Speaking on his radio show today, he confirmed that preparations are already underway, saying: “I had my first singing lesson for the Toy Show opening number and by singing lesson I mean my old friend Jim Sheridan (Late Late Show band leader) got together with me by the piano, just in a studio nearby here one morning, to find the key in which the opening song would be sung. And the opening song is so ‘unguessable’ by anyone on this island. You will not guess it, you just won’t.”

Won’t guess it, eh? Well, we’ll see about that. In recent years, Tubs has turned to The Greatest Showman, The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book among others to kick off the annual extravaganza. This year, given the overall point of the show, perhaps Toy Story could get a run out? Could a nod be given towards the Marvel World? Maybe the Fair City cast will be called in to show off their dancing skills?

Whatever it is, given the year we’ve had, it’s bound to be the most anticipated Toy Show in recent memory. You can read more about Tubridy’s hints here.
