Speculation continues as Ryan Tubridy meets with UK news group

It looks we’ll know where Tubs ends up pretty soon.

Ryan Tubridy is in meetings with News UK for a potential on air position following his official exit from RTE just weeks ago.

The Irish presenter was axed from the national broadcaster after uproar was caused over the 50-year-old’s salary.

It was claimed that the Late Late Show host had undeclared earnings to the tune of €345,000.

After weeks of debate in the Dail and numerous meetings between Tubs and the new RTE Director General, Kevin Backhurst, it was decided that he would not return to the airwaves – much to the disappointment of his many fans.

Ryan Tubridy’s future could be in the UK

Today, the Mirror reports that Ryan is believed to be in meetings with News UK about a future role and is ‘extremely happy about it’ – however nothing is confirmed as of yet.

News UK owns the Wireless Group, which is the company that runs Irish stations like FM104 and Q102 in Dublin as well as 96 FM and C103 in Cork, LMFM in Louth-Meath, Lim 95, in the midwest and U105 in Belfast.

An inside source told the publication: “Nobody here has heard yet whether he is getting a show or not. He was definitely in here at meetings but we don’t know the outcome yet.”

The former RTÉ presenter was spotted in London last week, where he was pictured with News UK-owned Talk TV host Piers Morgan and DJ Chris Evans.

In the meantime, Tubridy has remained silent on any future plans he has for his career but one thing is for sure; he’s not hanging up his microphone just yet.
