A tonic for the heart and soul, the Late Late Toy Show is always a treat and with so much riding on this year’s show, it most certainly did not disappoint.
A defining moment in the Christmas buildup each year, the Late Late Toy Show usually marks the start of the seasonal festivities. However, while many people have already decided to say ‘feck it’ and start the celebrations early, it didn’t make this year’s show any less special.
The most-watched TV show on Irish tellies each year, watching it is an annual tradition and viewers have had nothing but good things to say for the 2020 production since tuning in last night. Aptly described by Ryan as “possibly the most important of all time”, there was a lot depending on the success of the show and it absolutely delivered on all accounts.
Saying that it is by far their favourite Toy Show to date, viewers had a lot of love for this year’s show.
Hats off to the #LateLateToyShow Ryan Tubridy, the production team, the kids & the concept of hope. This was the first year I got to sit with my family & watch it live. Truly beautiful, funny, uplifting & heartwarming. Thank you for this. Forget anyone who can’t see its goodness.

That was the best Toy Show I’ve seen in my lifetime. My god. I am just bursting with joy seeing all those happy kids and the €5m donations. What a spectacular little evening… 😭

#LateLateToyShow
This was, by far, THE best toy show that @rte and the @RTELateLateShow have ever produced. It was ALL about the children and simple messages of love, gratitude, belief and following dreams. Well done to Ryan and all the team involved in pulling it together— Vicky Phelan (@PhelanVicky) November 28, 2020
My eyes are puffed up dents in my face. I love Ireland SO MUCH. Tubs, take a bow. He was fantastic tonight. As were the magic kids who gave all our spirits a much needed boost #toyshow

Also commending Ryan for handling the social distancing measures and lack of studio audience like a pro, there were many moments that really resonated with viewers and I think it’s safe to say that there were very few dry eyes in the house by the time Tubs was done.
Tubs takes a lot of stick but there’s been no-one better at the Toy Show. To make that as good as it was without an audience and while keeping social distancing took a serious amount of skill. Such a ray of good vibes in a bad year! #LateLateToyShow
