Who can we expect to see in the final two seasons of The Crown?

With two outstanding performances from Claire Foy in seasons one and two, and Olivia Colman in seasons three and four, we have waited with bated breath to see who will take the throne for the final two seasons.

Queen Elizabeth II

If you can get over the fact that the Queen is being played by the same actress as Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter, then I think she’s a great choice to play the monarch on this season. Imelda Staunton has the perfect level of grace and sternness to encompass the queen.

Prince Philip

Taking over from Tobias Menzies and Matt Smith is equally as prolific Welsh actor Jonathan Pryce, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Princess Margaret

A fan favourite of the series since it began is the late Princess Margaret. Vanessa Kirby first brought her to life in seasons one and two, while Helena Bonham Carter gave a whopper of a performance in seasons three and four. Lesley Manville, who will take over the role for season five, bears a strong resemblance to Princess Margaret, and her real life friendship with Imelda Staunton is only bound to make her portrayal more real.

Princess Diana

Elizabeth Debicki, an Australian actress known for movies such as Tenet and The Great Gatsby, will be taking over from Emma Corrin, who portrayed Diana in season four. Although she has big shoes to fill, in the photos released of the actress in character, Debicki embodies Diana’s melancholy perfectly.

Prince Charles

On the other hand, we’re not so sure about this choice. Dominic West, best known for his roles on The Affair and The Wire, is a terrific actor to be sure, but I’m not sure that I can see the resemblance to Prince Charles. Let’s hope his performance will make up for it.

John Majors

With a new season comes a new Prime Minister (or several in the cases of season two and three). With iconic performances by Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher and John Lithgow as Winston Churchill, the quest for who would play John Majors in season five was of huge importance. We trust that Jonny Lee Miller, known for his role in Trainspotting, is the right actor for the job!
