The tv adaptation of Exciting Times just got a major casting

Katy Thornton

We wonder what Lady Whistledown will think of this.

These certainly are exciting times – Naoise Dolan’s debut novel Exciting Times is coming to our television screens. What’s even more exciting still is today we got our first glimpse of who is to play main character Ava.

Naoise Dolan posted on Instagram to share the news that English actress and Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor will appear in the upcoming adaptation of the novel. Dynevor first captured our attention as Daphne Bridgerton, who stole our hearts alongside Regé-Jean Page as the Duke of Hastings.

Exciting Times follows Ava, a Dublin born student who moves Hong Kong to teach English. What Ava doesn’t expect is to fall in love with not one, but two people while she’s there. Julian is a wealthy banker who offers Ava a place to stay, while Edith is a lawyer she quickly becomes close with. Longlisted for the 2021 Women’s Prize for Fiction, Exciting Times makes Naoise Dolan an author to watch.

The addition of Dynevor to the cast makes us even more hyped for the upcoming series.

We can’t wait to see who else is set to star in the show.
