The Last Dance might sound like Netflix’s latest romcom effort but in reality, it’s based around the 1990s cultural phenomenon that was Michael Jordan.
Netflix is filled with brilliant sporting documentaries and if you missed it, we’ve listed our favourites over on Lovin Dublin. The Last Dance is just the latest and it’s creating more buzz than most that have gone before it.
Back in the 1990s, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were two of the most recognised brands in sport. It’s fair to say that it was the former’s star quality that helped to boost the profile of the latter, with his iconic Air Jordan image adorning sportswear across the globe.
The Last Dance charts the rise of both Jordan and the Bulls, culminating in tension between the star player and management during his final season in 1997/98. It uses the perspective of Jordan as well as high profile team mates such as Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman to tell the gripping story of how the relationship began to sour.
The first two episodes of the ESPN series were released on Netflix in Ireland at 8am today and people are already getting stuck in. Further episodes will drop weekly, and those who have watched the start are already anticipating the next editions…

The music cues in the #TheLastDance are elite, maybe the best I’ve ever heard in a sports doc. They only get better.
