Ryan Tubridy claims this year’s Toy Show opening number will be ‘delicious and different’

Time doesn’t hold all that much significance for me these days. 2020 will do that to a person… I’m lucky if I know what day of the week it is, to be honest. But a recent Google search has just revealed that it is exactly 121 days until Christmas (eep!) which means that it’s even fewer days until the Toy Show airs. I’m a big kid, I know.

One of the highlights of the run-up to December 25th, watching The Late Late Toy Show is an Irish tradition that really marks the start of the festive period for many. Well, that and poring over the Argos catalogue but perhaps it’s too soon to bring up that painful memory.

Having already confirmed that this year’s show will be “like something you’ve never seen before”, host Ryan Tubridy has just teased what this year’s opening number will be promising that it will be “delicious and different”. We’re intrigued.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio One, Tubs said:

“We’ve got the character decided upon; we’re ahead of ourselves. People were concerned is it going to happen or not? Not only is it happening, but the costume check went really well. And the character’s good; the opening’s going to be delicious and different.”

Revealing that he attended his first costume check last week, it sounds like it’s very much all systems go for this year’s “really careful, Covid-conscious” Toy Show. No doubt Russell Crowe already has his countdown set for this year’s show. He’s a big fan, don’t ya know? Read more on that here.
