Bad News If You’re A Father Ted Lover Because It’s Been BANNED From Being Used On TV Show Mastermind

Darragh Berry

We’re all in agreement that if Father Ted had been on the English curriculum during our Leaving Cert days, we’d have all flew out the door with A1s in our hands.

An Irish nation’s knowledge of Father Ted is absolutely insane. It’s not enough to just remember a certain quote from the television show. Oh dear god no, you have to remember who said it and where and why it was said – which reminds us, if you think you can do that, try our Father Ted quote quiz.

So it goes without saying that, if we had to do a stint on Mastermind and we had to choose our specialist subject, it would be Father Ted, every day of the week.

Well, sadly that decision is not left in our hands anymore and according to the Metro, the subject of Father Ted is BANNED from the show.

Speaking to the Radio Times, series producer Mark Helsby said: “32 people wanted to do Fawlty Towers last year. 19 wanted Blackadder and 22 wanted Father Ted.

“We’ve had to ban certain topics [like these] from the specialist subject round because they have been requested so many times, we have run out of questions.

“You can do any subject you want – within reason. They have to be suitable for broadcast on BBC Two on a Friday night, but pretty much everything is doable, provided there’s sufficient source material to refer to.”

Well, feck anyway.
