Everyone thought this storyline in Friends was a bit outside the box and it seems like the cast of the show said the same.
We were all for that Rachel and Ross life so we thought it was a bit weird when she went off with her 'brother-like' friend, Joey.
In Kelsey Miller's book about the show' 'I'll Be There for You: The One About Friends' which was published in October, she states that the whole cast did not like the idea.
She said that:
“LeBlanc said it felt incestuous (especially uncomfortable after so many years of cultivating a brotherly bond with the female characters)."
She adds that Jennifer Aniston said that: "It had to be a crush, and it had to be more funny than emotional, otherwise, this arc would go from risky to unwatchable," she writes.
Producer of the show, Kevin S, Bright previously said that Matt Le Blanc (Joey) was heavily against the plot line.
“In the beginning, Matt LeBlanc did not want to do that story,” Bright said. “He was very firmly against it, saying that he’s Ross’ friend, and that the type of friend that Joey is would never go and take someone else’s girlfriend.”
