A Peaky Blinders movie could be in store for fans according to one of the series’ directors.
This is not a drill.
According to Yahoo Movies UK, Otto Bathurst, director of three episodes of the Birmingham based drama, said that Steve Knight the series creator has started writing a screenplay for the film.
“I think it’s actually being written. I think Steve, Steve Knight the writer, I think they’re planning something, yeah.”
The fifth season of the show is currently in the pipeline and it looks like Cillian Murphy’s character will move even further into politics.
More Irish talent will be added to the upcoming series including Brendan Gleeson, Charlene McKenna, Emmet J Scanlan, and Daryl McCormack.
Sam Claflin of Hunger Games fame has also signed on for the newest series as well as Split star Ana Taylor Joy.
Despite Knight telling reporters that they were “probably going to do” a movie, Cillian Murphy doesn’t seem particularly keen on the prospect.
“I’m sort of ambivalent about it. I’m sort of like, ‘Eh, yeah, I don’t know, I’m not sure’.
“I love the idea sort of theoretically, but it has to come at the right time, you know? You can’t alienate the beautiful democratic thing of television where everyone just watches it.”
We definitely hope it happens!
