RTÉ Receives Multiple Calls And Emails Over Controversial Late Late Moment

James Fenton

19 years after a expletive-laden tirade at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Dublin, Shane Lynch’s foul mouth has appeared to have landed him in hot water once more.

It has emerged, per the Irish Mirror, that the Boyzone star’s unsavoury language on The Late Late Show on Friday night has attracted a number of comments to RTÉ with a spokeswoman revealing that the station has received 28 emails and 14 phone calls on the matter. However, none of these contained any formal complaints.

Appearing on the chat show alongside his bandmates, Lynch was asked about an infamous clip of the lads appearing on the same programme back in their younger days. The 42-year-old responded to Ryan Tubridy’s question by saying “I busted my b*llocks to get here. You see that clip, you can shove it up your f*cking hole”, before sticking his middle finger up at the camera.

The comments drew laughter from Ryan and cheers from the audience and while they certainly raised eyebrows, they don’t seem to have offended too many people. Check out the clip for yourselves below.

Oh, and here’s that speech from 1999 for those who don’t recall. Never change, Shano.
