WATCH: Epic Trailer Released For Movie Which Could Finally Bag Saoirse Ronan An Oscar

Three times Saoirse Ronan has been nominated for a Academy Award and, sadly, three times she has walked away empty-handed.

The Irish star got the nods for Best Supporting Actress in 2018 for Atonement as well as Best Actress for Brooklyn and Lady Bird in 2016 and 2018 respectively. The run of disappointment could finally come to an end though if Saoirse’s performance in Mary Queen Of Scots is as good as the trailer suggests.

In it, the 24-year-old plays the title role of Mary Stuart, the cousin of Queen Elizabeth I, who is played by Margot Robbie. The movie is due to be released in January of next year, just in time for Oscar season and both women should be in with a real shout of claiming a prize.
