The antics of Homer, Marge, Bart Lisa and Maggie were not only incredibly funny but the show was THE most hard-hitting satirical take on American and wider global culture.

Simply put, something like The Simpsons had never been seen before and Matt Groening's show set the bar for every sitcom that came after it. And then the millennium happened.
