Laura Whitmore fought back tears as she introduced a special tribute to her close friend, Caroline Flack, during the Love Island live final.

The final episode of Winter Love Island was dedicated to Caroline Flack, the former long-time presenter of the reality television show who tragically passed away on February 15, aged 40.

Before the winning couple was crowned, Laura Whitmore introduced a lovely montage of Caroline’s best bits in the villa over the years.

In the emotional video, Caroline could be seen joking with various islanders and smiling proudly at couples embracing, as well as dancing with Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, who is in a relationship with Laura.

There have been calls to cancel Love Island since Caroline’s death but at the time of writing, there has been no suggestion that ITV will not go ahead with the summer version of the programme.

Applications remain open for the summer edition on the casting section of the broadcaster’s website.

Paige Turley and Finley Tapp were crowned winners of the winter edition on Sunday night, with the popular pair deciding to share the £50,000 prize after six weeks in the Cape Town villa.
