Gaga joined the Irish rockers to play two of their classics, as well as her Oscar-winning track.

Fresh off the news that U2’s Las Vegas residency has been extended, the legendary Irish rock band were joined on stage by pop superstar and actress Lady Gaga.

Gaga made a surprise appearance with U2 at the “state-of-the-art” Sphere venue on Wednesday (25 October) where she performed several songs with the group, including ‘Shallow’ – the Oscar-winning track from her smash hit musical romantic drama A Star is Born.

As well as this, she also duetted with Bono on the U2 songs ‘All I Want is You’ and ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’.

U2’s Las Vegas residency began last month, with the band performing the shows to honour the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1991 album Achtung Baby.

The concerts launched the new MSG Sphere at The Venetian, which has been described as “the first 16K screen that wraps up, around, and behind the audience”.

“Sphere Immersive Sound delivers pitch-perfect audio to every seat in the house. 4D technologies will let the audience feel the wind on their face, the heat on their skin and the rumble of thunder,” a U2 statement read ahead of the residency.

The Las Vegas shows – which also saw the band pay an emotional tribute to Sinéad O’Connor – have earned wide critical acclaim and just last week, it was announced that the Irish group would be extending their residency.

Initially set to close in December 2023, the concerts from U2 will now continue until 18 February 2024, which means the band will play 36 shows.
