TLC stands for That’s Limerick City.

It’s no secret that the post-pandemic period has been tough for small businesses, with what feels like a never-ending list of closure announcements and enhanced pressure as the cost-of-living crisis persists.

Understandably, appeals for people to support local are as passionate as ever and one Limerick business has poked “a little bit of fun” at their global chain neighbour’s expense to keep the flame ignited.

Quoting the illustrious Rubberbandits, Doh Pizza have erected some new signage outside their Castletroy HQ with a photo of one of their light doughy pies beneath the refrain “Dat’s Limerick City!”

Meanwhile below, borrowing graphics from the global pizza chain that starts with a D and ends with an o’s, the Doh team declare “dat’s not!”

The poster was designed to remind pizza lovers of the importance of supporting local, with the caption reading:

“A little bit of fun at our neighbours expense today but we do believe you should support local businesses when and where you can. They are usually ran on a shoestring, have better quality products and pour their profits (if any) back into the local community.

The business continued – “Global corporations who serve cheap, frozen food with ingredients you can’t pronounce and send their earnings abroad don’t benefit the community. Support local! Up Limerick”.

Doh Pizza have two locations in Limerick, one in the city and one in Castletroy where they sit next to the neighbours in question. You can peruse their menus and order online right here.
