You may remember Fr. Pat Ward as the same priest who blared rap music in an empty church during the pandemic.
Almost half a million people have watched Donegal priest Fr. Pat Ward strumming away to the Our Father in a viral TikTok.
The parish priest based out of Burtonport in the Rosses area of Donegal is known throughout the community for his musical flair, but he’s reached a wider audience thanks to the video.
The TikTok was captured by American user @liv.laugh.cryy, who attended Mass while visiting family in Donegal.
Liv wrote: “POV: you’re at Mass in Ireland and the priest whips out his ukulele for the Our Father”.

The video has amassed over 56,000 likes, with one user commenting “Such a charismatic priest, guided us all through covid with prayer, music & good common sense”. Another wrote “Play Wonderwall Father”.
This isn’t Fr Ward’s first dalliance with online fame – a video of him accidentally playing Young Prophet by Black the Ripper during a live stream of Mass gained worldwide attention in 2020. Even today, the YouTube video of the song by Black the Ripper is populated with comments such as “Who came here after church mistake?” and “the Irish Catholic Church brought me here”.
After accidentally blaring the tune, Fr Ward joked “A bitta rap in the morning wakes you up… I hope that didn’t do anyone’s blood pressure any difficulty there”.
