As Hurricane Ophelia is battering Ireland and the country is going into lock-down, it appears that maybe a lot of us should go back to school.
Because the number one trend on Ireland’s Twitter is in fact a misspelling. Yep, we have managed to make #Opheila trend instead of #Ophelia.Â
The hurricane is going to be the talk of the nation the next couple of months, but many haven’t spelled it right – it does take quite a lot of tweets to become the number one trend.
People have been reacting to the mistake vocally and many are confused as to what is the correct spelling.
Here are some of our favourite tweets:

I’m moving to Galway. It’s the only area/city in Ireland that can actually spell. #Ophelia the top trend there, #Opheila everywhere else ????

Well folks, the correct spelling as said by Met Éireann is in fact: Ophelia.
We do appreciate the bit of comic relief, though.Â
