Virgin reveal full schedule for this weekend’s Liverpool marathon

James Fenton

Virgin Media have unveiled the full schedule for the weekend’s marathon of Liverpool’s greatest moments in European football.

Earlier this week, Virgin Media had Liverpool fans salivating by announcing that this weekend will be dedicated to the club’s greatest European moments. Having picked up their sixth European crown last June, the Reds’ pedigree on the continent is fairly indisputable, even to the most ardent of Manchester United or Everton fans.

This weekend, Liverpool supporters will be able to enjoy back-to-back screenings of some of their most memorable nights, with last season’s epic comeback victory over Barcelona airing on Friday night at 9pm. This will be preceded by the quarter-final victory over Porto earlier in that campaign.

Saturday night will be another festival of Liverpool’s finest hours with their maiden European Cup final victory in 1977 over Borussia Monchengladbach starting at 8pm, followed by their fourth continental final win over Roma in their own back yard from 1984.

The main event on Saturday for a certain generation will be the screening of 2005’s barely believable turnaround over AC Milan, penalty shoot-out drama included, from 1opm. To wrap things up before bed, you can relive 2018’s pasting of Manchester City from 11pm.

Finally, Sunday night will see last year’s final win over Tottenham Hotspur screened from 8pm. The full schedule of this weekend’s Liverpool games can be viewed in the tweet below.

Seems like the ideal opportunity for Liverpool-supporting mates to get together for a watchalong, don’t you think? Don’t worry Manchester United fans. Something tells us Virgin will soon be announcing a marathon of the greatest Red Devils moments too. Watch this space.
