And it is reportedly no longer called Sex & The City…
It was barely two weeks ago when we first reported that a Sex & The City reboot/remake/requel (whatever you want to call it) was in the works, but that series highlight Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall) wouldn’t be a part of it.
Now it looks like that rumour is very much a reality, with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) tweeting out a teaser trailer for the show, with the HBO Max logo tagged at the end.
There is very little to go on at this point, but it does look like Samantha definitely will not be a part of the new show.
Additionally, while the hashtag at the end of the teaser seems to say that the show may be called Sex & The City: The Next Chapter, there is another Twitter account tagged in the post: @AndJustLikeThat.
That will bring you to what looks like the official Twitter page for the new show, so maybe that is the official comeback name? Apparently, yes, according to Variety, who have reported the new chapter is indeed titled “And Just Like That…”, and that the “revival will follow Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Charlotte York (Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s.”
The new series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes, and is due to begin production in New York City before Summer.
So what that likely means is that the show won’t be available on HBO Max until early 2022, but even then, since HBO Max isn’t freely available on this side of the Atlantic, we’ll likely have to wait a little while longer.
Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said in a statement:
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved city that has always defined them.”
