Is Colm Meaney now the best on-screen Santa ever? Discuss.

Now that it is November, it is officially Christmas season.

We don’t make the rules, this is just how it is. Already we have seen the likes of Netflix release some of their Christmas movie line-ups, both brand new and some seasonal classics, so for anyone who wants to dive into the Christmas spirit, it is already available for you.

With that in mind, Aldi have released the full version of their new Christmas advert, which they have been teasing for a while. Initially, the small ads featured Kevin the Carrot going full Top Gun before being accidentally ejected from his fighter jet by a turkey (as you do), and the new advert picks up the story from there.

Set to the iconic Home Alone music, we see Kevin the Carrot try to make his way home in time for Christmas dinner, and with the help of a happy hedgehog, and none other than Santa Claus himself, they try to make his Christmas wish come true.

The fact that living legend Colm Meaney is playing Santa in the advert is sure to make it a favourite with Irish viewers, plus, through additional bonus footage for Irish viewers only, Aldi reveal an even stronger connection to Ireland this year.

Check out the full advert right here, or you can watch it during The Late Late Show tonight:
