Stealing the show with his powerful rendition of Rave On, John Donne, Michael D Higgins impressed with his spoken word performance of the track taken from Van’s 1983 album Inarticulate Speech of the Heart.Â
Miggeldy Higgins has joined several other famous Irish faces in wishing Van Morrison a happy birthday. Part of a project curated by Hot Press Magazine, the President got involved by performing a spoken-word rendition of the Irish singer’s song Rave On, John Donne.Â
A virtual celebration of all things Van Morrison – widely considered to be one of Ireland’s greatest songwriters and performers – President Higgins’ video was amongst 10 others that were broadcast on YouTube.
Organised in honour of the legendary songwriter’s 75th birthday, other artists to partake in the project include Bray native Hozier who performed one of his favourite Van Morrison songs Caravan, Bob Geldof and Glen Hansard.
Fans can also look forward to a number of written contributions from artists such as Sinéad O’Connor, Gary Lightbody, Damien Rice and Imelda May as well as special homages from international artists Brandon Flowers, Steve Van Zandt and Matt Berninger.
