Normal People chemistry test

James Corden challenged Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones to a chemistry test and the resulting video makes for quite an entertaining watch.

Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones were guests on The Late Late Show with James Corden this week. Filming the show from his garage, the Normal People stars joined James via video call chatting to him about the series and their meteoric rise to fame.

A big fan of the show himself, James has been lavishing praise on the production since watching it, dubbing it the “best show” he’s watched in a long time even claiming that it may have changed his life. Of course, not alone in his love for Normal People, the show has broken download records around the world as everyone from Kourtney Kardashian to Sia and our own Niall Horan has endorsed it.

Saying that the twosome’s “incredible chemistry” on the show is all people can talk about at the moment, James went on to challenge the pair to a ‘chemistry test’ – asking them to create the same kind of electric chemistry they have on Normal People while reading dialogue from random clips he found online.

When asked whether they thought it was possible, Daisy responded with an enthusiastic “oh yeah”… Paul, on the other hand, didn’t look quite so convinced but he gave it a go nonetheless.

Naturally enough, James picked extremely obscure scenes for the duo to recreate including a clip of Guy Fieri learning how to make a hot mushroom sandwich, a clip from the home shopping network where two women discuss the versatility of joggers (our working from home uniform these days) and a clip from Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen nightmares about crab – Paul has a hard time composing himself for that one.

Try to watch this and not laugh… I don’t know how these two managed to keep a straight face for so long.

I think that proves that Connell and Marianne’s chemistry can take on anything, even a canned crab fiasco.
