A well-known pharmacy chain, this year’s Doc Morris Christmas ad is all about keeping fit and healthy – encouraging people to take care of themselves so they can take care of others and those that truly matter in life.
Most Christmas ads these days are designed to be tearjerkers but this one is in a league of its own altogether so please proceed with caution. I’ve just watched it and can confirm it will take several, several minutes for the tears to stop. You’ve been warned.
So far this year, many festive ads have hit the mark in terms of delivery that heartfelt Christmas message we’re all such suckers for. First, there was Disney’s offering, then SuperValu. Soon followed John Lewis and An Post and now we have the Doc Morris offering.
Centred on an elderly man living alone, the ad shows him embark on a new fitness journey… much to the bewilderment of his neighbours and family. Clearly preparing for something big, he uses a framed photograph as motivation to keep him going with the big reveal as to who or what it is coming at the end.
I won’t spoil it for you but there will be tears, that I can guarantee.
Watch below.
Only just discovering the German ad, Irish Twitter is not emotionally ok since seeing it with many describing it as “the best Christmas ad of 2020”.
Isn’t this just fabulous. The best 3 minute ad you’ll see this Christmas https://t.co/T42W1OMB84 via @YouTube

Might have to take a personal day tomorrow to recover from that one, eh?
