The perfect event for creative kiddies with a spooky side.

Killruddery are challenging you to come together with your family and get creative while making your very own scarecrow for their scarecrow competition.

Ahead of next Thursday October 28th, you’re invited to bring your own ready made scarecrow to Killruddery, where your creation could be in with a chance to win in a number of categories. Supplies to build your straw-filled friend are available from their farm shop now (in the way of wooden crosses and bags of hay, €5 each). All you need to do then is find suitable clothing and accessories for your creation – maybe a bucket hat, or a nifty pair of shades? Maybe a scary mask for the season that’s in it? The options are endless, and I’m sure you’ll come up with something better than I ever could. You can scroll through their recent insta post for a bit of inspiration, as well as a tutorial for how to make your own scarecrow.

Judges Julie Kelleher, the director of Bray’s Mermaid Arts Centre and Killruddery Farmer Tom Jenkinson will be choosing winners on the 28th in the following categories:

  • Most creative
  • Scariest
  • Best in Show (best made)

Winners will be announced across Killruddery’s social media channels on October 31st, with prizes available for collection from their farm shop. Happy crafting!
