There’s a festival happening in Limerick next week and the line-up is cracking

Fiona Frawley

Starting from next Thursday, Limerick City will be abuzz with music, comedy and general craic thanks to Sionna Music and Arts Festival.

This is very high up on the list of things we love to see.

The festival will take place over the course of two months in venues across the city, kicking off next Thursday the 16th at Dolan’s with appearances from Blindboy, Give Us The Night (a new campaign with the aim to modernise Ireland’s nightlife) and music from Strangeboy.

Day Two (September 18th) will take place in scenic King John’s Castle with a jam packed line up including Hazey Haze, Leo Miyagee, New Jackson, Paddy Mulcahy, Jayne and loads more.

The festival will wrap up with a closing party at Rusks Factory on October 16th with performances from Sunil Sharpe, Tommy Holohan, Shampain, Midweek and loads more. There’s an exciting focus on up and coming Irish acts from all genres throughout the line-up, and it’s just what the industry needs after an incredibly tough year. Speaking on the festival’s Instagram page, the organisers said:

Our aim is simple – to bring life and culture back to the city of Limerick and Ireland by working together with different venues and the city council to establish a platform for local artists to express themselves once again.

Each night will be broadcasted live for anyone who wants to enjoy the gigs from home, with tickets available to attend the events in person too. All public health guidelines will be adhered to and ticket prices vary from €40 to €70/€140 for pods of either two or four people. Tickets are available for the 16th of September HERE, the 18th HERE and will be available for the October event from the 20th of September. Exciting times!
