We love a spice bag, so we do.

As a country, we take our takeaways seriously. The Just Eat Takeaway Awards 2021 just proved how much love the Irish people have for their local chipper or pizzeria. Hosted by the amazing and hilarious Joanne McNally, one by one Ireland’s favourite takeaways were revealed.

The categories were expansive and wide reaching, everything from Best Lunch (Jump Juice, Co. Cork), to Best Mexican (Tolteca), to Best Newcomer (Cluck Chicken, Co. Dublin). Each province got its champion; Saba To Go, Dublin won for Leinster, The Chili Shack, Galway for Connacht, Burrito Loco, Donegal for Ulster, and Sambros, Limerick for Munster.

The overall winner for the Best Takeaway in Ireland was Ruby’s Pizza and Grill, located in Swords, Co. Dublin.

And for Ireland’s favourite spice bag, the top prize went to Xian Street Food in Tuam, Galway. You know where to go if you’re hanging out of your arse on a Sunday and need to be revived; spice bags are always the cure.

Other mentions included Dough Box in Bray as last year’s Gamechangers, as well as Centra as Ireland’s Best Convenience store. Lemon Tree Finglas in Dublin snatched the Best Chinese award, while Ballymun’s Firehouse Pizza won Best Pizza. Zaytoon won Best Persian restaurant, YumGrub won Best Vegetarian, while the Best Chipper went to Leo Burdock’s. The Best National Chain went to Camile Thai.

Over 188 spots were nominated in the Just Eat awards, and the winners were chosen via public vote.

So there you have it, Ireland’s favourite takeaways. Congrats to all the winners – this sure makes choosing where to order from that little bit easier.
