Winners of the 2019 Food Awards announced

Sarah Finnan

Ireland’s reputation industry has gone from strength to strength over the years.

Foodies come from far and wide to sample all we have to offer.

And what better way to honour the achievements of local suppliers, wholesalers, chefs and restaurants than adding yet more awards still to the long list of accomplishments.

The Food Awards Ireland 2019, which were held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Monday, paid tribute to those working behind the scenes to provide top-notch food and customer service.

Several of the awards were split into local regions to ensure that a diverse range of businesses across the country could be recognised.

Celebrating everything related to food, 13 Dublin city establishments received awards along with various restaurants and pubs around the country.

Amongst the countrywide winners were Tuco’s Taqueria in Galway (Best Mexican Establishment), Napoli Italian Delicatessen & Café in Cork (Best Italian Establishment) and Burren Fine Wine & Food in Clare (Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year).

Platform Pizza Bar in Wicklow was named as the Best Pizza Establishment while Flannery’s Bistro in Ballinrobe was revealed as the overall winner of Restaurant of the Year.

With so many unreal food spots, it’s no surprise that most of my money is spent checking them out. No regrets though.
