Add us as a preferred source on Google »Sending children to school in Ireland is getting more and more expensive according to the latest survey from the Irish Credit Union League (ILCU ).
On average, back-to-school spend now stands at €1,209 per child compared with €1,185 last year.
The survey found that one in four parents will have to forego some back-to school items this year while around four in ten won't be able to afford new school shoes for their children.

Around 29% of parents feel they will get into debt by covering school costs while a quarter view spending on sending children to school as a financial burden.
