You Need To Try This Barmbrack Cocktail This Halloween

AmyBell

Buying a loaf of Barmbrack is a big Irish tradition around the Halloween period, that has been passed down through generations.

There’s now a new twist on the traditional Irish bread, in the form of a boozy cocktail that you can make that is known as the ‘Barmbrack Cocktail’.

And we really don’t know what to think of it.

Food & Wine posted the unusual recipe on their website that gives you a cocktail with the flavours of the bread with its dried fruit and spices.

We are kind of interested to try it out…

If you fancy giving the ‘creamy spiced drink’ a try yourself, this is the simple recipe to follow:

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 60ml of single-malt Irish whiskey (2 ounce)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of rum-based allspice liqueur
  • 19g toasted-raising syrup (2/3 ounce)
  • 15g heavy cream (1/2 ounce)
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of freshly grated nutmeg (to garnish)

Method:

It’s simple:

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice, add in all of the ingredients (expect the nutmeg garnish) and shake well.

Strain the cocktail into your glass and garnish with the nutmeg.

Et Voilà!

You have your very own Barmbrack inspired cocktail.

It’s probably the most Irish thing to ever exist… Would you try it?
