7 Irish staycation spots we want to visit this summer

If you spent the weekend scrolling through Insta, experiencing intense fomo at the sight of everyone’s staycation and weekend getaway snaps, this is your sign to get planning for summer.

From Easter onwards, the bank holidays come in hard and fast. There are luxurious three-day weekends to enjoy in May, June and August, and the time to organise a dreamy wee getaway for yourself is now.

If the last couple of years have taught us anything, it’s that there’s no shortage of idyllic staycation spots to spend a weekend on this island. Whether you’re looking for a seaside cabin, a treehouse with city views or a castle where you can live your best Enya life, Ireland’s got it.

If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration, we’ve compiled a quick list of places we’re dying to visit this summer.

Corcreggan Mill, Donegal

A “quirky and eclectic holiday hub” along the Wild Atlantic Way, with glamping and self catering accommodation available. While you’re there, check out their gourmet fish and chip shop with a tasty selection of tacos, arancini and homemade fish fingers.

Ravens Rock Glamping, Waterford

A family-run site with wooden cabins that’ll fulfil all your cottagecore fantasies, nestled in the scenic Comeragh Mountains.

River Fane Retreat, Monaghan

I saw this spot pop up on my Instagram a couple of months ago and was spellbound. One for all the seasons, this spot offers a sauna, hot tub and private pool to relax in while the River Fane rushes past you, and a pizza oven to whip yourself something tasty after a long day of relaxing.

The Birdbox, Donegal

We make no apologies for having two Donegal spots on the list – we could hardly leave this blissful treehouse behind. A cosy, handcrafted structure with lots of nooks and crannies, and a private decked area with views of Glenveagh National Park. Find out more and book your stay HERE.

Inch Hideaway, Cork

Minutes away from Inch Beach in East Cork, you’ll find this hideaway with yurts, wagons and plenty of activities including yoga classes, cocktail nights and guided foraging walks. Get booking HERE.

Pops Dream Cabin, Clare

Nestled amongst the greenery on the shores of Lough Derg, you’ll find this picturesque cabin with private veranda, a wood burning stove and the most magical views. Book your stay HERE.

Aran Islands Glamping, Galway

Do we need to say much to sell you on the idea of a glamping trip to the Aran Islands? One of the most insanely beautiful parts of the country, and these guys make the most of it with beachside pods, amazing views and the town of Kilronan just a short walk away.
