With just weeks to go until the big day, people are starting to get into the full swing of Christmas and all the festivity that entails.
Christmas markets are popping up around the country and the lights are now switched on across many cities in Ireland, so a lot of people might be contemplating when is the ‘right time’ to put up their tree, the lights and the decorations around their house.
Apparently around now might be the perfect time, because an expert has claimed that those who put up their Christmas decorations earlier than the norm tend to be a lot happier.
“Strong feelings of childhood”
Psychoanalyst Steve McKeown told UniLad that premature Chrimbo decorations simply extends the excitement of Christmas, making people that bit happier.
He said, “in a world full of stress and anxiety people like to associate to things that make them happy and Christmas decorations evoke those strong feelings of the childhood.
“Decorations are simply an anchor or pathway to those old childhood magical emotions of excitement. So putting up those Christmas decorations early extend the excitement!”
So if you’re not really feeling in the festive mood just yet, maybe putting your decorations up will make you that little bit happier and jolly.
