Can you guess which actor voices Percy Pig in the M&S Christmas ad?

Fiona Frawley

Forget James Bond, this is surely the most coveted role in the history of acting.

This year’s M&S Christmas ad debuted this morning, and for the first time in 30 years we heard the voice of everyone’s favourite farmyard jelly, Percy the Pig.

As Percy comes to life in the ad, he finds his voice for the very first time – a major milestone for the beloved pig who celebrates his 30th birthday next year. Pleasantly surprised to hear he’s in the ageing millennial category, like myself.

Now, there are no two ways about it. Percy the Pig is a huge role. With 10 Percy’s sold every second, an entire franchise of farmyard friends, fizzy tails and even veggie piggies, he’s pretty much a cultural icon. So which promising young actor was selected to fill Percy’s legendary trotters?

I can reveal, the part was awarded to none other than Tom Holland. Spiderman and Percy Pig, not a bad aul cv when all’s said and done.

Speaking ahead of his debut as the voice of everyone’s favourite pig, Tom said:

I’ve loved Percy Pigs for as long as I can remember, and when I was asked to be his voice – his first EVER voice – it took me less than a second to say yes. Getting the snort right was a challenge, but I hope I nailed it and you all like what you hear! I did consider asking for a lifetime supply of Percy Pigs but I figured I’ve got to save room for all of that amazing M&S Christmas food!

This year’s ad also features a performance from comedy legend Dawn French as the festive fairy. You can check it out below:
