Workers Are Being Warned About A New Tax Scam Doing The Rounds

mariemadden

As the saying goes, if it looks too good to be true… it usually is.

There’s a new scam in operation at the moment that is promising substantial tax refunds through an official-looking ‘Revenue’ website.

According to Joe.ie, people have been receiving text messages that offer details of a tax refund and a link to a website to claim their money.

While the site looks very similar to that of the Revenue Commissioners, it’s a fake one that will ask you to enter your credit card details and personal information.

Revenue has advised that it has no connection to the messages and “never sends emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text or pop-up windows”.

Anyone who may have been affected by the scam is advised to contact their bank.
