‘Caspering’ Is The Latest Dating Trend That Is Like No Other

Darragh Berry

We’ve heard them all at this stage. Shaveducking, Ghosting, Breadcrumbing. Relationship trends are very much 2018 but some of them are just down right cruel.

Now, we have another one to add to the list, ‘Caspering’.

Mirrored on the art of ‘Ghosting’, this dating trend sees you cut all ties with the other person and disappear off the face of the planet but only if you’re nice about it.

Created by International Business Times, caspering is simply being a friendly type of ghost.

There’s no “we should still be friends” spiel, just bluntness, raw, unedited bluntness.

Classic Caspering lines would include: “It’s been great and I’ve loved hanging out with you but there’s just no connection there so it’s best if we stop seeing each other.

Or

I’m just not in the right headspace to date someone right now but thanks for all the good memories.

Or, even worse again

My dating situation has changed, I’m going to stop replying to messages and calls from you now. It’s no reflection on you as a person

Lovely.

It’s nearly worse than being completely ghosted or being fecked over because you think everything is going grand and then you’re actually told that you’re just not going to cut it and in truth, the last few weeks/months have been for nothing.

Friendly dating trend? Me arse.
