Pub owner convinced his pub is haunted by the ghost of a past tenant

And he has proof.

A pub landlord says his boozer is haunted by the ghost of a dead drinker who knocks customers’ pints over and was even caught on CCTV making a glass explode.

The creepy incidents have plagued the Coniston Tavern in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, with two unexplained occurrences captured on film.

On Monday lunchtime, CCTV shows a workman in a hi-vis jacket chatting with two pals at a table.

Suddenly the half-drunk pint explodes, showering the hapless punter in lager and shards of glass.

Bizarrely, four months earlier another drinker was sitting at the same table when his pint glass mysteriously slid onto the floor.

Landlord Andy Gadsby reckons the pub is haunted by a former tenant and punter called Dave who used to live in the flat above the bar.

He said: “My wife and I have been running the pub for seven months but we’ve since been told it’s haunted.

“Apparently a tenant called Dave lived in the flat above the pub and one night he drank a bottle of brandy and had a heart attack and died.

“Maybe his spirit is around the pub and he’s desperately trying to pinch people’s drinks.”

Andy, 35, who runs the pub with wife Katie, 32, was serving customers on Monday when he heard the commotion coming from the other side of the bar.

He added: “One of (the) customers looked pretty wet with lager and he said the pint exploded in front of him.

“At first I thought the glass might have had a hairline crack after coming out of the washer and the cold lager caused it to break.

“If that had happened you wouldn’t expect it to explode and he’d already drank half the drink so the glass was clearly cold.

“Going through the security tapes I suddenly realised that another customer had lost his drink at the same table in December.

“He had sat down at the same table and his pint looked like it’d been pushed onto the floor. “It’s very mysterious and the two incidents have spooked people out.”
