Here are seven of the nicest bookshops to visit in Ireland

James Fenton

Bookshops are now back open which is great for those who like to leaf through a few tomes in our spare time or even buy one if we’re feeling extravagant enough.

Given our writing heritage, it’s no surprise that Ireland is filled with lots of lovely little bookshops in which you could easily spend an hour or so.

Heading on a staycation this summer? Be sure to pop into any of the below if they’re nearby…

Kenmare Book Shop, Kerry

An adorable little spot that’s far enough away from the main street to be considered a hidden gem.

Chapters, Dublin

Ireland’s largest independent bookstore is located on Parnell Street in the capital. Known for its second-hand department which has been altered slightly since reopening  – more here.

The Book Centre, Waterford

A trip to the Déise City isn’t complete without buying something at The Book Centre before sitting down with a tea and a scone upstairs.

The Lahinch Book Shop, Clare

A relaxing visit to this little gem after getting some sea air is the way to do it.

Vibes & Scribes, Cork

Come for the books and stay for the crafts

The Salmon Book Shop, Clare

A great stop-off point at the heart of bustling Ennistymon.

Hodges Figgis Dublin

And finally, the granddaddy of the them all, on Dublin’s Dawson Street. Oh, how we’ve missed you.
