Strandhill Christmas Market in Co.Sligo is really spreading the Christmas cheer with their latest offer.

The organisers behind the market are urging people to bring their elderly neighbours and loved ones to the market and in return, they will be rewarded for it.

Free mulled wine and coffee is the treat on offer from the market who feel that Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for people who have lost loved ones or don’t have family to spend the festive season with.

The free drinks are being distributed from the Driftwood Coffee Cart at the market.

Allan Mulrooney, founder of Strandhill People’s Market told The Taste: “This time of the year can be particularly difficult for the elderly; people who’ve lost their partners, or whose children have moved too far away to visit.

“It’s easy to forget that the family-oriented holiday season can be the loneliest of times for people with no relatives.

“That’s why we will have a warming cup of something for those who would like to bring an elderly neighbour or friend along so they can too can soak up some of that nice vibe.”

The market is celebrating its fourth year of existence and with over 50 stalls, it’s one of Ireland’s biggest. It’s opened every Friday between 5-9pm and every Sunday. from 11am-4pm until 22 December.
