Swamp Fashion have announced that they have ceased trading and closed their Irish stores for the final time on Friday evening.

Founded in 1984, Swamp Fashion developed stores in Cork, Galway, Waterford, Athlone, Tralee and Limerick but the popular fashion brand revealed that they had reached the decision to cease trading this week.

In a statement on social media, a Swamp Fashion spokesperson said: “To all out wonderful customers, today has been a sad day.

“The Directors of Swamp Ltd regret to announce that the company will cease trading today.

“We sincerely thank all our loyal customers and wish them well in the future.”

Customers wishing to enquire about how to avail of store vouchers are advised to contact the company’s customer service team via email on [email protected].

Swamp revealed to the Irish Examiner that the decision to close came about as a result of the recent ill health of the managing director, as well as increasingly difficult trading conditions.

Swamp added: “Swamp’s shops in Cork, Limerick, Athlone, Tralee, Galway and Waterford will close this evening. Go raibh maith agat. Slan go foill, the Swamp team.”

As many as 60 staff members are expected to be affected by the closure.
