The Christmas Paddy Box is an ex-pat’s dream

Sarah Finnan

Send this to your friends and family abroad and they’ll love you forever. Guaranteed.

Gift buying during the festive season can be a bit of a nightmare.

Do you get your dad another pair of socks or opt for a book for the third year in a row? And for your Mam? The latest gadget she insists she’ll use but you know she won’t, or stick with the old reliable and gift her the same perfume she always wears?

What about friends and family abroad? That’s a whole other kettle of fish.

Having lived abroad myself, I know that the one thing I missed above all else was easy access to homegrown treats. Things I probably took for granted when I was in Ireland, but that I never will again. I promise.

The Paddy Box has come out with a festive edition of their always popular gift boxes to make sure that even those who can’t make it back this Christmas can still enjoy a taste of home.

Packed with grá, it has 11 Irish essentials -basically all the things ex-pats love.

Such as? Chocolate, crisps, tea bags, RELISH!

Imagine how excited you’d be opening that up.

Complete with a personal note, postage ranges from €3 to €18 depending on the country while the box itself starts at just under €50. You can choose to tailor your selection of treats or go with one of the standard ones either.

And good news for anyone who tends to leave the present buying until the very last minute, as if you order a box on the 23rd it can get to NYC for Christmas Eve. That’s a 24-hour turnaround, which is pretty impressive at any time of the year but especially during December.

Other US states and Canadian cities take two to three days, while boxes being sent Down Under will get there in three days.

All The Paddy Box is short is a full Irish, but I reckon that wouldn’t travel well…you want this to be a sign of your love after all.
