On a mission to get fit, 67-year-old Clare man Padraig Howley set up an Instagram account to help him along the way.

Committing to going vegan for 21 days, he’s been detailing his experience over on social media and it’s safe to say that we’re all big fans. Sharing his first post online just four days ago, Padraig has already amassed over 32 thousand followers since then.

Introducing himself and what his page ‘sing and step with Padraig’ is all about, the Clare local said that he’s “on a journey to get fit”.

“I am attempting to go vegan for 21 days starting tomorrow February 22nd.

“I met Dave and Stephen Flynn from @thehappypear for a sunrise swim with @snamhaisasta and I never thought I’d ever say I would go vegan. But with advice from doctors and health professionals, I need to make a few changes. So here I am.

“I hope you can follow this page and maybe I can help to motivate someone else.”

Admitting that he’s only new to the whole insta thing, Padraig has enlisted the help of his daughter until he gets ‘blogging’ himself.

Giving followers regular updates, he’s made sure to show what he’s been eating over the past few days too with meals including soup, spinach tortelloni and even a Vietnamese coconut and tempeh curry.

Inspiring the nation to follow suit and perhaps try out a few plant-based recipes too, I don’t think I’m alone in saying that Padraig Howley is my new favourite person on the internet so be sure to give him an auld follow over on the ‘gram.
