“One Of The Best Experiences Of My Life” – A Tourist Has Been Gushing About Her New Year Trip To Ireland

James Fenton

It’s common knowledge that we don’t take compliments well here in Ireland. A mere hint of praise can see us go bright red before the sentence is even finished and if you’re that way inclined you better not read on.

A tourist has taken to Reddit to thank the Irish people for our hospitality during their recent stay on our shores over the New Year. The poster took in some of our most stunning sights including Blarney Castle and the Cliffs Of Moher and clearly didnt’ want to head back home without letting us all know how welcoming we are.

She writes:

‘My husband and I just came back from a 10-day trip to Ireland and I just want to thank y’all for your hospitality. I didn’t actually meet any redditors but I just want to share how awesome our first time to Ireland was with you fine people.

‘The food was amazing – some of the best seafood I ever had. The Cliffs of Moher was breathtaking. The gardens around the Blarney Castle was beautiful and not just a big tourist trap (this time of year anyway – it was nice being the first group there!) We got to do New Years at the Custom House and watch the fireworks.

‘As a non-drinker, drinking Guinness with my meals was surprisingly refreshing. Your music is captivating and this was overall, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life. You guys are so nice and welcoming and I can’t wait to go back!’

Well, now. Seems we can do no wrong when it comes to the céad míle fáilte. Keep it up, lads! If you’re interested in reading the full post, you can do so here.
