WATCH: Claire Byrne outlines what to expect in pubs from next Monday

James Fenton

Pubs across Ireland are preparing to reopen next Monday and last night RTE viewers got a taste of what’s to come, courtesy of a segment on Claire Byrne Live.

Claire Byrne has been providing audiences with glimpses into post-lockdown life for a few weeks now, and last night there was a rural pub set up in her studio. In it, Claire spoke to publican Clíona Ní Chualáin about what her clientele and the pub-going nation as a whole can expect when they walk into their local next Monday.

Clíona said that all of her staff will be wearing masks as well as aprons to ensure their safety and the safety of the customers. She added that when customers arrive, their names will be checked on a chart before they are brought to their table.

It was confirmed last week that pubs which serve food will be allowed to open from Monday, June 29 with those that don’t offer an eating option following suit on July 20. Clíona said that she is a bit “overwhelmed” with all of the preparations that need to be put in place and you can watch last night’s Claire Byrne segment in full below…
