This Dundalk restaurant are offering free hot meals to anyone who could do with one on Christmas Day

Fiona Frawley

Sitar Indian Restaurant have been offering this gorgeous service for the last few years and are back again for 2021.

The family-run takeaway and restaurant will be opening their doors on Christmas Day from 5-8pm to serve homeless, elderly or vulnerable people in the area a free takeaway hot meal and an Indian Masala Tea. You can also pick a meal up for a neighbour or someone in your community if they can’t make it out.

The Sitar family have stated that “whoever walks through our door will have total anonymity. No questions will be asked! There’ll be no pictures or anything like that taken“.

The restaurant also shared their menu for the day on Twitter with a selection of veggie and chicken dishes, with tasty starters too.

They’ve appealed for the message to be shared far and wide, particularly with those who are not on social media.

If we can make Christmas just a little bit better for even one person by opening our doors and providing a warm and friendly meal, well that’s enough for us.

If you or anyone who know could benefit from this service, be sure to pay the Sitar family a visit on Christmas Day!
