Paul McCartney confirmed as headline act for Glastonbury 2020

Sarah Finnan

Big news.

This just in: Paul McCartney will play Glastonbury 2020.

Yes, you read that right. Macca will perform at Worthy Farm next year.

Having last headlined the festival back in 2004, he’s set to make his grand return 15 years later. About time says you.

Fans went into overdrive earlier today when Sir Paul posted a very cryptic tweet on his Twitter account.

Sharing an image of Philip Glass, Emma Stone and Chuck Berry, when combined their last names spell out ‘Glass-Stone-Berry’. That’s some clever wordplay right there.

Afraid to get too ahead of themselves, people were still unsure as to whether this confirmed the gig or not, but it seems it was not a hoax as organisers have since verified the claims.

Emily Eavis took to Twitter, writing “IT’S REAL!! So excited..Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true”.

Adding that “there really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary”, we couldn’t agree more.

This confirms months of speculation over whether McCartney would make an appearance on the festival line-up.

Diana Ross was named as the headline act for the Sunday afternoon Legends slot early last month.

A true icon for a truly iconic festival.

Other favourites tipped for performances at Glastonbury 2020 include Taylor Swift, Madonna and Fleetwood Mac. What do you reckon?

I’d beg, borrow or steal for a ticket to be perfectly honest.
